Parenting Workshops

Parenting Jewish Children
in the Wake of October 7th

How do Jewish children of different “ages and stages” think about the events of October 7th, the Israel-Hamas war, the ongoing hostage situation, and the rise of antisemitism in the US? And what types of parenting stances might help Jewish children and teens navigate this challenging moment in time? This workshop offers an opportunity to host a “fireside chat” in which Jewish communal leaders and their communities can be in conversation with Dr. Sivan Zakai about how to better understand and support children and teens at this time.

Parenting When the
World is on Fire

Natural disasters. War and violence. Political instability. In this parenting workshop, we will explore when and how children understand that there are troubling events happening in the world. We will learn about developmentally appropriate principles and specific parenting moves that can guide conversations with children about troubling current events.

Understanding Young Jews
and Israel

How does this generation of young Jews think and feel about Israel, and why is it often different from the ways their parents, grandparents, and teachers do? In this workshop, we will investigate four key contexts—the generational context, the political context, the Israel engagement context, and the digital context—that help adults understand how and why this generation of young Jews relate to Israel.
